Disclosure Templates for White Papers

The second consultation package on the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), published by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) on 5 October 2023, includes draft implementing technical standards with regard to the forms, formats and templates for crypto-asset white papers. 

The draft standards specify, among other things, that the white papers must be prepared in XHTML format with mark-ups using the XBRL markup language. 

Annex II to the draft standards provides format and disclosure templates for crypto-asset white papers. These templates are arranged in a series of four tables:

• Table 1 contains a legend for the other tables, specifying the symbol, data type and definition of common elements such as country and currency codes;
• Table 2 contains the disclosure template for white papers for crypto-assets other than asset-referenced tokens or e-money tokens;
• Table 3 contains the disclosure template for white papers for asset-referenced tokens;
• Table 4 contains the disclosure template for white papers for e-money tokens.
